## Biography

Andrzej Seweryn is a Polish actor and director. Born on 25 April 1946 in Heilbronn, Germany, to Polish parents, he was raised in Warsaw and graduated from the National Academy of Dramatic Art there in 1968.

He has appeared in over 50 films, working primarily in Poland, France and Germany. Notable roles include Julian Scherner in *Schindler's List* (1993), François-Louis Bourdon in *Danton* (1983) and Zdzisław Beksiński in *The Last Family* (2016). He has collaborated regularly with director Andrzej Wajda.

Seweryn is one of only three non-French actors to have been hired by the Paris-based Comédie-Française, where he performed from 1993 and became a sociétaire in 1995. Since 2011 he has served as director general of the Polski Theatre in Warsaw.
