## Biography

Andy Newbery is a British television director. Born in Hampshire in 1981, he began his career as a runner on productions including *Doctor Who* before moving into directing.

He has directed episodes of series including *Casualty* (2019–2021), *Keeping Faith* (2017), *Hidden* (2021), *The Light in the Hall* (2022) and *Shetland* (2023). He directed all eight episodes of the third season of *Heartstopper* (2024) for Netflix, taking over from Euros Lyn, and received a Children's and Family Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Live Action Series for the episode 'Journey'.

Newbery has worked extensively in Wales, directing Welsh-language dramas such as *Pobol y Cwm* and *Bregus*, and is learning Welsh.
