## Biography

Angelo Badalamenti was an American composer. He studied at the Eastman School of Music and earned a master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Early in his career he worked under the name Andy Badale as a songwriter and composer for film and television.

He is best known for his long collaboration with director David Lynch. Badalamenti composed the scores for *Blue Velvet* (1986), *Twin Peaks* (1990), *Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me* (1992), *Wild at Heart* (1990), *Lost Highway* (1997), *The Straight Story* (1999) and *Mulholland Drive* (2001). He also scored *A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors* (1987) and *National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation* (1989).

Badalamenti received the 1990 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for the *Twin Peaks* theme. He died on 11 December 2022.
