## Biography

Ann Chegwidden was a British film and television editor. She was born on 27 April 1921 in Hampstead, London, and died on 6 September 2007 in London.

She began her career in the late 1940s as an assistant sound editor on films including *The Perfect Woman* (1949) and *Seven Days to Noon* (1950). Her editing credits include *The Masque of the Red Death* (1964), *Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D.* (1966), *Wuthering Heights* (1970), *And Soon the Darkness* (1970) and episodes of *The Avengers* (1968–1969). She also edited episodes of *Dick Turpin* (1979–1982) and *The Flame Trees of Thika* (1981), and served as supervising editor on *The Heart of the Dragon* (1985).

Chegwidden received three BAFTA nominations and won an Emmy Award for editing the 1974 documentary *The Baboons of Gombe*.
