## Biography

Ann Sheridan (born Clara Lou Sheridan) was an American actress and singer. Born in Denton, Texas, she won a Paramount beauty contest that led to a screen test and early uncredited roles under her real name. She signed with Warner Bros. in 1936, where she was promoted as the 'Oomph Girl'.

Sheridan appeared in numerous films, including *Angels with Dirty Faces* (1938), *They Drive by Night* (1940), *The Man Who Came to Dinner* (1942) and *Kings Row* (1942), in which she played Randy Monaghan opposite Ronald Reagan. She later starred in *I Was a Male War Bride* (1949) with Cary Grant. She worked in television in the 1960s, including the series *Another World* and *Pistols 'n' Petticoats*.
