## Biography

Anne Bauchens (1882–1967) was an American film editor. She worked for over forty years with director Cecil B. DeMille, editing the majority of his films from the mid-1910s until his final production, *The Ten Commandments* (1956). She received her first editing credit, shared with DeMille, on *Carmen* (1915).

When the Academy Award for Best Film Editing was introduced, Bauchens was nominated for *Cleopatra* (1934). She won the award for *North West Mounted Police* (1940), becoming the first woman to win in the category. She received further nominations for *The Greatest Show on Earth* (1952) and *The Ten Commandments* (1956). In total she is credited as editor on more than sixty films, the majority directed by DeMille.
