## Biography

Annie Caulfield (1959–2016) was a British playwright, screenwriter and travel writer. She began her career writing jokes for Lenny Henry and contributed episodes to television series including *This Life* (1997), *The Real McCoy* (1991–1992) and *Grim Tales*. She also wrote radio plays for BBC Radio 3 and 4, and stage plays such as *Didn’t Die* for Clean Break Theatre Company, which won a *Time Out* award.

Her non-fiction included travel books exploring Benin, Jordan and her native Northern Ireland, among them *Irish Blood, English Heart, Ulster Fry*. She made documentaries for BBC Radio 4 and appeared on programmes including *From Our Own Correspondent* and *Crossing Continents*.
