## Biography

Anthony Masters (1919–1990), also credited as Tony Masters, was a British production designer and set decorator. His career spanned from 1949 to 1987.

Masters served as production designer on *2001: A Space Odyssey* (1968), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Art Direction. Other production design credits include *Papillon* (1973), *The Deep* (1977), *Dune* (1984) and *The Clan of the Cave Bear* (1986). He contributed art direction to *Lawrence of Arabia* (1962) and *The Heroes of Telemark* (1965).

He was married to actress Heather Sears from 1957 until his death. Two of their sons, Giles Masters and Dominic Masters, also work as production designers.
