## Biography

Anthony Sparks is an American television writer, producer and showrunner. Originally from Chicago’s South Side, he began his career as an actor, appearing in the Broadway production of *Stomp* and the Emmy-winning HBO film *Stomp Out Loud*. He holds BFA, MA and PhD degrees from the University of Southern California.

His writing credits include episodes of *The District*, *Lincoln Heights* (2007–2009), *Undercovers* (2010) and *The Blacklist* (2014). He served as producer on *The Blacklist* and later became showrunner, head writer and executive producer of *Queen Sugar* (2016–2021). More recent work includes writing and executive producing on the limited series *Mike* (2022) and the series *Bel-Air* (2022–).

Sparks has received NAACP Image Award nominations and the 2020 Television Academy Honors award as showrunner of *Queen Sugar*.
