## Biography

Antoine Balpêtré (3 May 1898 – 29 March 1963) was a French stage and film actor. He trained at the Conservatoire de Paris and began his career in the theatre, appearing at the Théâtre de l’Odéon before joining the Comédie-Française in 1934, where he performed in works by Molière, Racine, Shakespeare and others.

He appeared in more than fifty films between 1933 and 1963. His screen credits include *Le Corbeau* (1943) as Dr Delorme, *Diary of a Country Priest* (1951) as Dr Delbende, *Le Plaisir* (1952) as Monsieur Poulain, *The Counterfeiters of Paris* (1961) as Lucas Malvoisin and *Carnival of Sinners* (1943) as Denis. He was the uncle of actor and producer Jacques Perrin.
