## Biography

Antonio Ferrandis Monrabal (28 February 1921 – 16 October 2000) was a Spanish actor. Born in Paterna, Valencia, he studied teaching but pursued theatre after the Spanish Civil War. His first professional stage role came in 1950 in *Oedipus*, co-starring with Francisco Rabal. He began appearing in films in the early 1950s.

Ferrandis worked with directors including Luis García Berlanga on *Placido* (1962), *The Executioner* (1963) and *The National Shotgun* (1978), and Luis Buñuel on *Tristana* (1970), in which he played the Buyer. He is also known for *The Miracle of Marcelino* (1955), *My Dearest Senorita* (1972), the television series *Verano azul* (1981) as Chanquete, and *Begin the Beguine* (1982). He received the Cultural Merit Award from the Generalitat Valenciana.
