## Biography

Archie Marshek was an American film editor. Born on 15 February 1902 in Cass Lake, Minnesota, he began his career in 1927 at Joseph P. Kennedy's Film Booking Offices of America and later worked as a staff editor at RKO Radio Pictures from 1929 to 1936 and at Paramount Pictures from 1937 to 1967. His career spanned more than four decades until 1971.

Marshek was the first editor to cut a three-strip live-action Technicolor short, La Cucaracha (1934), and the first to edit a full-length three-strip Technicolor feature, Becky Sharp (1935). He edited One-Eyed Jacks (1961), the feature directorial debut of Marlon Brando, as well as The Buccaneer (1958) for Anthony Quinn. Among his other credits are The Most Dangerous Game (1932), This Gun for Hire (1942), The Glass Key (1942), Ministry of Fear (1944), The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946), The Cat and the Canary (1939), Paris When It Sizzles (1964), Boeing, Boeing (1965) and Shoot Out (1971). He died on 29 March 1992 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
