## Biography

Armağan Ballantyne is a New Zealand film director and writer. Born in Wellington in 1972, she studied film in Sydney and Prague. She directed the award-winning music video for Emma Paki's 'Don't Give It Up' in 1996 and early short films including *Whistle She Rolls* (1996) and *Little Echo Lost* (1999). She also directed episodes of the New Zealand television series *Being Eve* (2001–2002) and a segment of the anthology *Stories on Human Rights* (2008).

Ballantyne's feature films are *The Strength of Water* (2009) and *Nude Tuesday* (2022). She directed an episode of the Apple TV+ series *Time Bandits* in 2024. Her short film *Hush* (2018) received several festival awards and nominations.
