## Biography

Art Buchwald (1925–2007) was an American writer and humorist. Born in Mount Vernon, New York, he became a syndicated columnist for the Washington Post and wrote more than thirty books, mostly collections of his satirical columns.

He contributed additional English dialogue to Jacques Tati’s *PlayTime* (1967). Buchwald also wrote for other films and television, including *Surprise Package* (1960), and appeared in small acting roles. In 1988 he successfully sued Paramount Pictures over the film *Coming to America*.
