## Biography

Art Metrano (22 September 1936 – 8 September 2021) was an American actor and comedian. He was born in New York City and died in Aventura, Florida. He is best known for playing Lieutenant Ernie Mauser in *Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment* (1985) and reprising the role as Captain Mauser in *Police Academy 3: Back in Training* (1986).

Metrano began his career with a film debut in *Rocket Attack U.S.A.* (1961) and appeared in guest roles on television series including *Bewitched*, *The Incredible Hulk* and *Wonder Woman*. He gained attention in the early 1970s for a mock magic act on variety shows such as *The Tonight Show*. Other film credits include *History of the World: Part I* (1981) and *Toys* (1992). Following a spinal injury in a 1989 fall, his screen work became limited; he later performed a one-man stage show about the experience.
