## Biography

Arthur Allan Seidelman is an American television, film and theatre director. Born in 1937 in New York City, he received a B.A. from Whittier College and an M.A. in theatre from UCLA, and studied with Sanford Meisner.

He directed episodes of series including *Hill Street Blues* (1981), *Murder, She Wrote* (1984), *Magnum, P.I.* (1980), *L.A. Law* (1986) and *Knots Landing* (1979). His feature films include *Hercules in New York* (1970), *The Sisters* (2005) and *Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks* (2014). He has also directed numerous television films, among them *A Christmas Carol* (2004).

Seidelman has received two Daytime Emmy Awards for direction of ABC Afterschool Specials, a Writers Guild of America Award for the 1982 special *I Love Liberty*, and other awards including Christopher Awards and a Humanitas Prize. His theatre credits include Broadway productions of *Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks* (2003) and *Vieux Carré* (1977).
