## Biography

Attica Locke is an American novelist and television writer and producer. She was born in 1974 in Houston, Texas, and graduated from Northwestern University School of Communication in 1995. She was a fellow at the Sundance Institute’s Feature Filmmakers Lab in 1999.

Her novels include *Black Water Rising* (2009), *The Cutting Season* (2012), *Pleasantville* (2015), *Bluebird, Bluebird* (2017) and *Heaven, My Home* (2019). On television she has written for *Empire* (2015) and contributed the teleplay for an episode of *When They See Us* (2019). She also wrote for the Hulu series *Little Fires Everywhere* (2020) and co-created the Netflix series *From Scratch* (2022) with her sister Tembi Locke.
