## Biography

Aubrey Mather (17 December 1885 – 16 January 1958) was an English character actor. He began his stage career in 1905, making his London debut in *Brewster's Millions* in 1909 and appearing on Broadway in *Luck of the Navy* in 1919. He entered films with *Young Woodley* in 1930 and frequently played butlers and similar supporting roles.

Mather appeared in numerous British and Hollywood productions through the 1940s and early 1950s. His credits include *Ball of Fire* (1941), *Mrs. Miniver* (1942), *Random Harvest* (1942) as Sheldon, *Heaven Can Wait* (1943), *Jane Eyre* (1943), *National Velvet* (1945) and *The Importance of Being Earnest* (1952). He died in Harrow, London.
