## Biography

Austin Dempster was a British cinematographer and camera operator. Born on 5 March 1921 in Godstone, Surrey, he began working in the film industry in the early 1940s as a camera operator.

He served as camera operator on numerous British and international productions in the 1950s and 1960s, including several films directed by Stanley Donen. From 1967 he worked as director of photography on features such as *Bedazzled* (1967), *The Looking Glass War* (1970), *Loot* (1970), *The Tales of Beatrix Potter* (1971) and *A Touch of Class* (1973), as well as television series including *Born Free*. He was a full accredited member of the British Society of Cinematographers.

Dempster died on 2 November 1975 in Surrey.
