Austin Kalish was an American television writer and producer. Born in the Bronx, New York, on 3 February 1921, he died on 5 October 2016 in Woodland Hills, California.

He began his career writing for radio before moving into television in the early 1950s. With his wife and frequent writing partner Irma Kalish, whom he married in 1948, he contributed episodes to numerous sitcoms, including *Gilligan’s Island* (1964), *I Dream of Jeannie* (1965), *All in the Family* (1971), *The Bob Newhart Show* (1972), *Good Times* (1974) and *Too Close for Comfort* (1980). Their work on Norman Lear productions often addressed social issues, such as episodes of *All in the Family* dealing with breast cancer and attempted rape, and the controversial “Maude’s Dilemma” two-parter on *Maude* (1972).
