## Biography

Ava Pickett is an English screenwriter and playwright. She holds a BA in theatre from Middlesex University and an MA from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, completed in 2018.

She was a staff writer on season three of the Hulu and Channel 4 series *The Great* (2020), co-writing two episodes with Tony McNamara. Her other television credits include episodes of *Brassic* (2019–), *The Buccaneers* (2023–), *Ten Pound Poms* and *How to Get to Heaven from Belfast* (2026).

Pickett’s debut play *1536* (2025) won the 2023–24 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. She has written stage adaptations of *Emma* (2025) and *The Manningtree Witches* (2026), and is co-writing a feature film about Joan of Arc with Baz Luhrmann.
