## Biography

Baird Bryant was an American cinematographer and filmmaker. He was born Wenzell Baird Bryant on 12 December 1927 in Columbus, Indiana, and graduated from Harvard University. In the early 1950s he lived in Paris and associated with writers of the Beat generation before beginning his film career in the early 1960s.

Bryant served as director of photography on *The Cool World* (1964). His other credits include camera work on *Easy Rider* (1969) and *Gimme Shelter* (1970), as well as cinematography on *Celebration at Big Sur* (1971), *Broken Rainbow* (1985) and *Heart of Tibet* (1991). He died on 13 November 2008 in Hemet, California.
