## Biography

Barbara Euphan Todd was an English writer best known as the creator of the children's character Worzel Gummidge. She published the first of ten novels about the scarecrow, *Worzel Gummidge, or The Scarecrow of Scatterbrook*, in 1936. The book became the inaugural title in the Puffin Books series.
