Barbara Merlin was a writer for radio and television. Born on 25 December 1917 in San Francisco, California, she began her career writing for radio stations in San Francisco and Los Angeles before working in television.

She wrote for numerous series, including dozens of episodes of *The Halls of Ivy* (1954–1955). Her credits also include episodes of *The Fugitive* (1964), *I Spy* (1967), *Breaking Point* (1963–1964), *Bonanza* (1963) and *The Virginian* (1968). She often collaborated with her husband, Milton Merlin.

Merlin died on 24 July 1997 in California.
