## Biography

Barry Kelley was an American actor. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he trained at the Goodman School of Drama and began his career on stage in the 1930s.

His Broadway credits included the original production of *Oklahoma!* (1943–1948), in which he created the role of Ike. He appeared in films from the late 1940s to the 1960s, often as police officers, judges or other authority figures, with roles including Lieutenant Ditrich in *The Asphalt Jungle* (1950) and Police Captain Holt in *Elmer Gantry* (1960). He also had numerous television appearances, including in *Bonanza*, *The Munsters* and *The Addams Family*.
