He was born on 16 June 1905 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and died on 24 August 1956 in Hollywood, California. He began his career in silent films in the mid-1920s and appeared in more than 90 films. Early roles included parts in *What Price Glory?* (1927), *The Legion of the Condemned* (1928) and *4 Devils* (1928). He is noted for playing Juan Harker in the Spanish-language version of *Drácula* (1931). In 1933 he played Carlos in *Lady for a Day*.
