## Biography

Barry Sonnenfeld is an American film director, producer and cinematographer. Born in New York City on 1 April 1953, he graduated from Hampshire College and New York University Film School in 1978.

He began his career as a cinematographer, working on films including the Coen brothers' *Blood Simple* (1984), *Raising Arizona* (1987) and *Miller's Crossing* (1990), as well as *When Harry Met Sally...* (1989) and *Misery* (1990). Sonnenfeld made his directorial debut with *The Addams Family* (1991) and followed it with *Addams Family Values* (1993) and *Get Shorty* (1995). His later credits as director include the *Men in Black* trilogy (1997–2012), *Wild Wild West* (1999) and *RV* (2006).
