## Biography

Bassel Ghandour is a Jordanian writer, producer and director. He graduated from the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. He began working in film as a production assistant on features including *The Hurt Locker* (2008).

Ghandour co-wrote and produced the feature *Theeb* (2014), directed by Naji Abu Nowar. The film won the BAFTA for Outstanding British Debut and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival and screened at London and Toronto. His directorial debut, *The Alleys* (2021), which he also wrote, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival.
