## Biography

Bedřich Baťka, also credited as Beda F. Batka, was a Czech-American cinematographer. Born on 21 August 1922 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, he began his career as a camera operator on *On the Right Track* (1948) and later collaborated frequently with director Jiří Weiss.

In Czechoslovakia he served as director of photography on *Marketa Lazarová* (1967), directed by František Vláčil. After emigrating to the United States following the 1968 Warsaw Pact invasion, he taught cinematography at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. His American credits include *Little Darlings* (1980).

He died on 6 June 1994 in Floral Park, New York.
