## Biography

Ben Esler is an Australian actor and writer. He was born and raised in Melbourne and graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Masters Degree in Applied Ethics and a diploma in Professional Ethics.

Esler began his career in Australian television, appearing in *Blue Heelers* (2004–2005) and the television film *Curtin* (2007). He played Charles 'Chuck' Tatum in the HBO miniseries *The Pacific* (2010) and was a series regular as Sean McGinnes in the first three seasons of the AMC series *Hell on Wheels* (2011–2013).

His later credits include Charlie Quinn in *The Magicians* (2016), Gunner Ken Deacon in *Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan* (2019), Jed in *Endings, Beginnings* (2020), Father Dirksen in *A Small Light* (2023) and a role in *Winner* (2024). He has also written for screen projects including *Wake Up Dead*.
