## Biography

Ben Foster (born 1977) is a British composer, orchestrator and conductor. He studied composition and conducting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating in 2000 and receiving the Lutosławski composition prize, and is a graduate of the National Film and Television School.

Foster composed the music for the first three series of the BBC drama *Torchwood* (2006–2009). He worked as orchestrator and conductor for Murray Gold on *Doctor Who* from 2005 to 2015, and has served as conductor or orchestrator on numerous films and television productions, including *Prometheus* (2012) and *The Grey* (2011). His *Torchwood* scores received three BAFTA Cymru nominations for Best Music.
