## Biography

Bengt Forslund (also credited as Bengt Erik Forslund) is a Swedish film producer, screenwriter and production manager. Born on 22 June 1932 in Grödinge, near Stockholm, he founded the influential film magazine Chaplin in 1959 and later worked as a producer at Svensk Filmindustri and the Swedish Film Institute.

He is best known for his long collaboration with director Jan Troell. Forslund co-wrote the screenplays and produced *The Emigrants* (1971) and *The New Land* (1972), both adapted from Vilhelm Moberg’s novels. For *The Emigrants* he received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. He has also produced and written numerous other Swedish films, directed several features and authored books on cinema.
