Born Benjamin Rubin in Boston, Massachusetts, he moved to Hollywood in 1929 and made his film debut in *Naughty Baby*. He specialised in dialect roles and comic supporting parts. Rubin is credited in *Here Comes Mr. Jordan* (1941) as Bugs and appeared in *Citizen Kane* (1941), *Pocketful of Miracles* (1961) and *Coma* (1978). On television he played recurring or guest roles in series including *I Love Lucy* (1951), *The Munsters* (1964), *The Beverly Hillbillies* (1962) and *Perry Mason* (1957).
