## Biography

Bernard Cribbins was an English actor and singer. He was born Bernard Joseph Cribbins on 29 December 1928 in Derker, Lancashire, and died on 27 July 2022 in Watford, Hertfordshire.

Cribbins appeared in films including *Frenzy* (1972) as Felix Forsythe, *The Railway Children* (1970) as Albert Perks and *Casino Royale* (1967). On television he played Mr Hutchinson in *Fawlty Towers* (1975) and Wilfred Mott in *Doctor Who* (2007–2010). He provided the narration for *The Wombles* (1973–1975) and appeared as a guest on *Would I Lie to You?* (2010). His career spanned eight decades from the 1940s until 2022. He was appointed OBE.
