## Biography

Bernard H. Hyman (1897–1942) was an American film producer who worked primarily at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Born in Grafton, West Virginia, he graduated from Yale University and began in the film industry as a salesman and exchange manager before writing screen stories. He served as an assistant to Irving Thalberg at Universal and followed him to MGM.

During the silent era Hyman wrote several stories and directed the 1925 film *Morals for Men*. At MGM he produced or supervised a number of features, including *Tarzan the Ape Man* (1932), *Tarzan and His Mate* (1934), *Camille* (1936) and *San Francisco* (1936). He also received credit on *Conquest* (1937), *Saratoga* (1937) and *The Great Waltz* (1938).

Hyman died of a heart attack on 7 September 1942 at the age of 45.
