## Biography

Bernard Robinson (1912–1970) was a British production designer best known for his work on Hammer Films' horror productions in the late 1950s and 1960s. Liverpool-born, he began his career in the 1930s as a draughtsman at Warner Brothers' Teddington Studios, later becoming an art director and joining Alexander Korda at London Films' Denham Studios. His career resumed fully after wartime service when he joined Hammer in 1956.

At Hammer's Bray Studios, Robinson created atmospheric Gothic sets on limited budgets by reusing and adapting structures across multiple films. His credits include production design on *The Curse of Frankenstein* (1957), *Dracula* (1958), *The Hound of the Baskervilles* (1959), *The Mummy* (1959), *The Brides of Dracula* (1960), *Dracula: Prince of Darkness* (1966) and *Quatermass and the Pit* (1967). He was married to puppeteer Margaret Robinson, who also contributed to Hammer productions. His association with the studio continued until 1969.
