## Biography

Bernd Fischer is a German cinematographer and director. Born in 1964 in Munich, he trained as a photographer before studying film and television camera at the Filmhochschule Babelsberg (HFF Konrad Wolf) from 1991 to 1996. He has worked as a cinematographer on more than fifty film and television productions since 1992.

Fischer is known for his work as director of photography on the series *Babylon Berlin* (2017–2022), for which he shared the Deutscher Fernsehpreis in 2018. He also contributed to *Russian Ark* (2002) as additional or supervising cinematographer. In 2003 he directed the documentary *Grüsse aus Dachau*, which received the Baden-Württembergischer Dokumentarfilmpreis and other recognition. Since 2020 he has been professor of audiovisual media design and production at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik.
