Armstrong is known for film roles including Ginny Newley in The Four Seasons (1981), Eve Tozer in High Road to China (1983), Dr Kathryn Morgan in Jaws 3-D (1983) and Donna Mildred Martin in Nothing in Common (1986). On television she played Patty Chase in the series My So-Called Life (1994–95) and has appeared in later series including Bosch as Judge Sobel.
