## Biography

Betina Kuntzsch is a German filmmaker, video artist and director. Born in 1963 in East Berlin, she studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig from 1983, graduating in 1988 as the first and only student in the GDR to submit a video work for her diploma.

She edited *Russian Ark* (2002). Kuntzsch is known for her animated documentary shorts that incorporate found footage, archival material and her own video drawings. Her film *Wegzaubern* (2015) received the Golden Dove at DOK Leipzig. She lives and works in Berlin.
