## Biography

Betty Buckley is an American actress and singer. Born in Big Spring, Texas, she trained at Texas Christian University and made her Broadway debut in the original production of *1776* (1969). She won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Grizabella in *Cats* (1982).

Buckley is known for playing Abby Abbott in the television series *Eight Is Enough* (1977–1981). Her film roles include Miss Collins in *Carrie* (1976), Dixie in *Tender Mercies* (1983) and Mrs Jones in *The Happening* (2008). She received a Saturn Award nomination for her performance in *Split* (2017). Buckley was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2012.
