## Biography

Betty Grable (1916–1973) was an American actress, dancer and singer. She began appearing in films in the early 1930s and had an early credited role as a guest in *The Gay Divorcee* (1934).

Grable became a prominent star in the 1940s through Technicolor musicals including *Down Argentine Way* (1940), *Moon over Miami* (1941), *Coney Island* (1943) and *How to Marry a Millionaire* (1953). She was married to actor Jackie Coogan from 1937 to 1939 and to musician Harry James from 1943 to 1965. Grable died of lung cancer on 2 July 1973.
