## Biography

Betty Linley was a British actress. Born in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England, she appeared in numerous Broadway productions from the 1920s onwards, including *The Dybbuk* (1926), *The Taming of the Shrew* (1927), *Hay Fever* (1931) and *The Breadwinner* (1931).

She originated the role of Mrs. Montgomery in the original Broadway production of *The Heiress* (1947) and reprised it in William Wyler's 1949 film adaptation. Linley also appeared in an episode of the television series *The Ford Theatre Hour* (1950). She died in New York City in 1951.
