Bill McCutcheon was an American character actor. Born on 23 May 1924 in Russell, Kentucky, he died on 9 January 2002 in Ridgewood, New Jersey.

His first major role was as Leo the Leprechaun on the children's television series *The Howdy Doody Show*. He later appeared as Uncle Wally on *Sesame Street* from 1984 to 1992. On stage, he played Moonface Martin in a revival of *Anything Goes*, for which he received a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical. Other theatre credits included *You Can't Take It With You* and *The Man Who Came to Dinner*.

McCutcheon's film roles included Dropo in *Santa Claus Conquers the Martians* (1964), Owen Jenkins in *Steel Magnolias* (1989), Doheny in *Family Business* (1989) and Leo Hansen in *Mr. Destiny* (1990). He also appeared in episodes of *Kojak* and *Tales from the Darkside*.
