## Biography

Bill McKinney was an American character actor. He trained at the Pasadena Playhouse and Lee Strasberg's Actors Studio. His film debut was in *She Freak* (1967).

McKinney played the Mountain Man in *Deliverance* (1972). He appeared in seven Clint Eastwood films, notably as Captain Terrill in *The Outlaw Josey Wales* (1976). Other credits include *First Blood* (1982) as State Police Capt. Dave Kern, *Back to the Future Part III* (1990) as Engineer and *The Green Mile* (1999) as Jack Van Hay. He also voiced Jonah Hex in *Batman: The Animated Series* (1992).

McKinney died on 1 December 2011.
