## Biography

Bill O'Farrell was a Canadian film archivist and preservationist. He served as head of Moving Image and Audio Conservation at the National Archives of Canada, where he oversaw numerous restoration projects from 1975 until 2002, including the recovery of silent-era films excavated from Dawson City, Yukon.

O'Farrell appeared as himself in documentaries on film preservation, including *Keepers of the Frame* (1999) and *My Father's Camera* (2001). Archive footage of him featured in Bill Morrison's *Dawson City: Frozen Time* (2016). He was a founding member of the Association of Moving Image Archivists and received recognition for his contributions to the field.
