## Biography

Bill Pertwee was an English comedy actor. He played Chief ARP Warden William Hodges in the BBC sitcom *Dad's Army* (1968–1977), appearing in 63 episodes of the original series as well as the 1971 film adaptation and radio versions.

Pertwee also appeared in Carry On films including *Carry On Loving* (1970) and *Carry On Girls* (1973), and played P.C. Wilson in *You Rang, M'Lord?* (1988–1993). He was awarded an MBE in 2007 for services to charity and served as president of the Dad's Army Appreciation Society.
