## Biography

Bill Walsh (also credited as William Walsh) was an American screenwriter, producer and comics writer who worked primarily for Walt Disney Productions on live-action films and television. He joined the studio in 1943, initially as a press agent, and wrote the Mickey Mouse comic strip for more than twenty years. He later produced early Disney television programmes including The Mickey Mouse Club (1955) before moving to feature films.

Walsh's screenwriting credits include The Shaggy Dog (1959), The Absent-Minded Professor (1961), That Darn Cat! (1965), Blackbeard's Ghost (1968), The Love Bug (1969) and Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971). He co-wrote the screenplay for Mary Poppins (1964) with Don DaGradi and shared a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium; he was also nominated for Best Picture as co-producer. Walsh died in 1975 and was named a Disney Legend in 1991.
