## Biography

Binnie Barnes, also credited as Gertrude Maud Barnes, was an English actress whose film career spanned from 1923 to 1973. She began in British shorts and features before moving to Hollywood in the mid-1930s.

She appeared in supporting and leading roles in films including *The Private Life of Henry VIII* (1933) as Katherine Howard, *The Last of the Mohicans* (1936) as Alice Munro, *Holiday* (1938), *The Time of Their Lives* (1946) and *The Trouble with Angels* (1966) as Sister Celestine. Her final screen role was in *40 Carats* (1973).

Barnes married film producer Mike Frankovich in 1940 and became a US citizen. They adopted three children. She died in Beverly Hills, California, in 1998.
