## Biography

Birger Larsen (22 December 1961 – 26 October 2016) was a Danish film director and screenwriter. He began his career as a child actor in 1978 before working as an assistant director on several films and moving into directing.

His feature debut *Dance of the Polar Bears* (1990) won the Bodil Award for Best Danish Film. He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film for *Sweethearts* (1996). Larsen directed episodes of the television series *The Killing* (2007) and *Those Who Kill* (2011), as well as later features including *SuperBrother* (2009) and *The Reunion 3* (2016).
