## Biography

Bob Clark was an American film director, screenwriter and producer. He was born Benjamin Robert Clark in New Orleans, Louisiana, on 5 August 1939 and grew up in Alabama and Florida. Clark directed, wrote the screenplay for and produced *A Christmas Story* (1983), collaborating with Jean Shepherd.

Between 1973 and 1983 he worked primarily in Canada, where he directed several of the country's most commercially successful films, including *Black Christmas* (1974), *Murder by Decree* (1979), *Tribute* (1980) and *Porky's* (1981). He also directed *Porky's II: The Next Day* (1983) and later films such as *Baby Geniuses* (1999).

Clark died on 4 April 2007 in a car crash in Pacific Palisades, California.
